About

The Boob Tube Boys have never been Boob Tube Batmen before, but that’s about to change. Spencer takes the wheel as the podcast covers Batman Beyond, an animated take on the superhero that aired right around the time people were afraid of Y2K.

In this version, Batman is old and retired, but he’s passed the torch to a kid named Terry McGinnis who isn’t Irish but does like to do vigilante stuff. Terry and old Batman must contend with melty face supervillain Max Powers and his doctor pal Stephanie Lake if they wish to keep Gotham City safe this week!

The Tubers talk about Batman Beyond’s fan following, decidedly late-90s soundtrack, and blindingly obvious narrative points that are bad for Van’s blood pressure.

Highlights

-Mr. Freeze struggles to perform

-Batman, but just a tad further

-crushes on villainous animated doctors revealed

About

Batman Beyond is automatically more hardcore this week, and all the show had to do was cast Henry Rollins in a role he was meant to voice.

Terry messes up an undercover bust when he mistakes it for a real criminal meetup, which leads to police commissioner Barbara Gordon asking old Batman to make his weird teen friend stop fighting crime. Things get much worse when a revolutionary named Mad Stan bursts (and we mean bursts) onto the scene with some pretty wild ideas.

The guys dissect slang like “fragged” and “schway city” before Van alters the space time continuum by selecting the next show on the BTB calendar.

Highlights

-Batman Beyond is henceforth renamed Mad Stan Now

-The blood on King K. Rool’s klaws

-Van finds a way to steer things back to Metal Gear Solid
