About
All three BTBs were American kids in the 1990s, the age of pogs, Bill Clinton, and Saved by the Bell. Spencer chose to cover the latter (season 3 of Bill Clinton is currently unavailable to stream), sending the show hurtling through a tunnel of nostalgia.
In “Blind Dates,” Principal Belding extorts Zack, Jessie dates a small man in a big sweater, and Slater lurks in the restroom to catch any gossip that might be uttered in supposed privacy. Van doesn’t like how much Zack gets away with, while Brian remembers far too many specific details from his childhood viewings of Saved by the Bell.

S1E3 | The Bayside Triangle

About
Spencer was tired of being a kid again and elected to pick an episode from the 2020 Saved by the Bell reboot to round out the Boob Tube Boys’ coverage of the show. We’re still at Bayside High, but this time around the cast is more diverse and the issues reflect a different era.
After a local, underfunded school gets shut down, its students are sent to ritzy Bayside and forced to acclimate to their new surroundings. Predictably, it isn’t an easy transition, and before you know it, John Michael Higgins is bandying about accusations of iPad theft. Will classism divide Bayside, or will everything be just fine because this is a sitcom?
No one likes the show’s updated theme song, but everyone is happy to discuss appearances by cast members of the original Saved by the Bell. The guys debate the merits of the reboot’s tonal changes and discuss what it’s like seeing a childhood staple remade.
