Editor’s Note
The audio quality of these episodes… well, sucks. There’s just no way around it. If you can’t handle the sound, please skip ahead a few episodes, where our quality gets significantly better. We appreciate you taking the time to listen to our back catalogue from when we were rookies crowded around bad mics, but we totally understand if you can’t handle the quality issues.

About
Armed with memories of 21 Jump Street from watching it with his sister as a kid, Spencer leads the BTBs through their most serious material yet. The undercover cops of Jump Street must infiltrate a military academy and find out who is behind a series of hate crimes targeting gay men.
Van makes sure to lighten the mood with fun facts about shows the BTBs already covered. Sergeant Major Jackson emerges as the most loathed character in the podcast’s short canon, and Brian defends Penhall’s reluctance to get a haircut no matter how dire the circumstances.
The guys try to decipher character motivations and prejudices as they summarize the episode, and things get pretty serious. Well, not that serious. There’s still time to talk about Johnny Depp’s constant employment as a barber and begin what turns out to be a years-long quest to find out why the character Harry Truman Aoki is named that.
Highlights
-Spencer hates wrestling and theme songs

About
In case last week felt too cheery for you, the Boob Tube Boys return with another depressing episode of 21 Jump Street. This time, a young drug dealer falls in love with Rosie Perez. The two of them decide the only way out of their dangerous lives is to pull one last job: rob a small, independently-owned convenience store with maybe $40 of change in the register.
The robbery doesn’t go well, and Ronnie winds up in jail for murder after a set of tragic circumstances. The fellas talk about how this episode succeeds dramatically without using its main cast much, the bittersweet sadness Rosie Perez brings to her role, and a surprisingly bleak ending.
Van provides some more levity with clips from previously covered shows, Spencer explains why he chose this episode, and Brian wonders exactly how fast Ronnie’s trial happened.
