About

Van is so delighted with what he finds upon watching Renegade that he calls the podcast’s very first audible, choosing a different episode to cover than the one he initially presented to his co-hosts.

Renegade is a bounty hunter show that goes out of its way in the opening credits to tell you that its main character (Reno Raines) is good at his job. Thing is, he’s not. In “The Road Not Taken,” Reno finds himself teaming up with a hungry Johnny Cash to see what it would be like not to be a widower. Brian is impressed by the slow, deliberate fighting acumen of old men, while Spencer is impressed with an opening credits sequence for the first time.

You’re going to want to hear this mess, but make sure the notorious Dutch Dixon isn’t hot on your heels first.

Highlights

-The eating preferences of Johnny Cash and Richard Nixon

-Stephen J. Cannell’s influence

-Bizarro Bobby Sixkiller

About

Apparently the first Renegade episode was simply too tame and logical for the BTBs, as this week’s offering is a personal favorite for Van, Brian, and Spencer.

Wayne Newton’s daughter has disappeared. That’s the plot of this Renegade episode, and it’s up to Reno Raines and his vacant face to find her. The hosts remain unconvinced that Reno is good at his job, but his sidekick Bobby Sixkiller draws universal appeal with his chill ‘tude. The BTBs also meet the Hell Wheels, a biker gang boasting a couple of very memorable characters with nearly unintelligible names.

Van busts out a harmonica, everyone gets sick of “Who Do You Love,” and there’s some talk of Australia. Later, Spencer picks an afterschool classic as the gang’s next show!

Highlights

-Wayne Newton’s hair color

-Reno meets an unlikely friend and Boob Tube Boys legend

-Why are motorcycle groups frightening?
